The purpose of this project was to create a costume out of recycled  material. I was playing the role of the Old Woman in The Rite of Spring. She is 300 years old and predicts the sacrifice of young girl. The piece explores the cyclical nature of the seasons and Russian folklore. To represent this I based the costume on circles by making a crinoline and decorating the bodice with cogs. To give a sense of her age, I draped the costume in hessian and created a bonnet to hide my face. I made a collar from recycled books to represent her wisdom.
